Coping with Stress

when a relative of mine found out that we were migrating to canada, she was very adamant that i shouldn't go. she said that life in canada is difficult and that i will not be able to handle the stress.

the stress of being away from my family and friends. the stress of not having any helpers or nannies (yayas as we call them in the philippines). and the stress of doing everything by myself - cooking, dishes, laundry, etc. for someone who doesn't do any household chores, the stress of having to learn everything may be too much to handle.

some people do cope. as we have. and some people don't.

those who have difficulty adjusting find themselves getting stressed out. and this is obviously not good. articles on stress management indicates that constant stress affects our health and our well-being. managing our stress is very important.

if you find yourself being constantly stressed, do take it easy. there is nothing more important than your health. the stress institute offers great stress reduction tips that you should read about. they have prominent physicians and professionals whose expertise in stress management and achieving work/life balance can help you live a stress-free life.

if living in canada stresses you out, the stress institute is just a click away.

TRUE! It depends on how you cope naman... I am in he same boat as you. I have just arrived here in Canada and a LOT of people are discouraging me din especially the fact that I am a new mom which adds to the atress of having to take care of my baby to doing the household chore...

Just arrived in Canada also mga 2 months na missing my family very much. Stress siguro is due to adjustment to Canadain working conditions "trabahong Kabayo" and distance from loved ones especially if sickness has occurred in Pinas.Tiis na lang or baka maloka ako,

i was in canada for 2 months, visiting.I like the pacing in canada better than in the US. people are more courteous and helpful. stress? you can have stress wherever you are. it's a matter of coping and handling...

hello, it's been a while.

I have siblings in Vancouver and in Toronto, they and their families adapted well after a brief period of adjustment. I have also siblings in the US and none of them had any difficulty adapting to their new environment.

For those who are leaving Pinas bound for foreign countries, set your worries aside and don't give up the opportunity to start a new life outside of Pinas without even trying. Good Luck!

Somewhere here in the net says there are 4 stages in the life of a canadian immigrant: euphoria, frustration, adjustment, acceptance (something like that).

So I expect to experience stress (second stage). Euphoria is the prevalent feeling so far though, since I'm still preparing for the trip. :)

Btw, I love your blog! So relevant.

I moved from Canada to Argentina. Things were a bit stressful as I didn't know the language or culture well. Things have improved though and although working is still difficult everyone is very nice. I am handling it better now. Like people said, you will feel stress anywhere. It is important to learn how to deal with it. Canada is a great place for Filipinos though.
